Winston Churchill and Gate 40 (Human Design)

Today, I came across a quote by Winston Churchill that somebody shared on their Facebook Feed. It stood out to me, and now I have a Human Design relevant post to share about him!

We recently explored gate 40 and a lot of people shared some great examples, experiences and perspectives. Thank you, everyone! Also for authoring that post, Iman Hamdi.

Winston has 40 for his design sun, and it is in detriment (according to Genetic Matrix). Far be it from being a weakness, though! I like to see "detriments" and "exaltations" as possible opportunities and complacency, respectively! Not always, but possible. Winston is a great case for this.

His Sun info, below, and also shared as images from the Complete Rave I Ching PDF.

Personality Sun: 9.3 (detriment)

The taming power of the small. Potential can be fulfilled through detailed attention to all pertinent aspects.

Line specifics: 3

The straw that breaks the camel's back - The overlooked minor element that always predetermines failure.

Sun placement (detriment): Persistent force that saps vitality and turns molehills into mountains. The power to turn a focus into an obsession.

Body Sun: 40.5 (detriment)

Deliverance. The point of transition between struggle and liberation.

Line specifics: 5

Rigidity - The recognition that to achieve liberation all negative forces must be rejected.

Sun placement via Earth in 37 (detriment): A tendency in revolution to accept a certain amount of necessary deviation on the assumption that it can be successfully purged later. The weakness of the ego in its loneliness to maintain and reject negative relationships.

If anything, I would say Winston turned this one around! He didn't want to "make nice" if it was true evil and destruction of their way of living. I'm not sure why Genetic Matrix shows it as a detriment, but when I access the i-ching info, its the Earth placement that would be in detriment - so if its connected to the Sun (and part of the same channel) it flags it? Maybe someone can shed some light on this.

Winston's Variables:

Unconscious (both left)

Digestion - Open: Exploratory, trying new things

Environment - Mountains Active: Being in elevation and having that elevation be difficult to access. Your closest friends will have high endurance for tough times. You thrive in challenges.

Conscious (both right)

Motivation - Fear: Getting caught in the "what if?" loop and not making decisions due to fear of what you don't know.

What can seem like a problem or a negative motivation is actually something empowered because Winston KNEW a lot and had a drive to make crucial decisions. He wasn't given the opportunity to really waffle on matters, maybe it was torture for him, but he did it, right?)

View - Power: Abandoning your naïve, innocent, and self-focused nature for competition or trying to beat others so you come out as the winner.

I like to think he came out shining with this view, especially as it pertains to the War.

"We shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender, and even if, which I do not for a moment believe, this island or a large part of it were subjugated and starving, then our Empire beyond the seas ..." - Winston Churchill

"NEVER GIVE UP ON SOMETHING THAT YOU CAN'T GO A DAY WITHOUT THINKING ABOUT. When is it time to throw in the towel on our ideas, dreams, goals and visions? ... So when this happens I must stop my noisy mind and ask myself what purpose these ideas, visions, goals and dreams serve." - Winston Churchill
